Instagram With Hyperlapse lets you easily create time-lapse videos

Heads up, Instagram users. The videos in your feed are about to get a lot more professional looking.
The Facebook-owned photo- and video-sharing app on Tuesday introduced a new standalone app called Hyperlapse, which lets you easily create time-lapse videos from your mobile device. Time-lapse is a technique where video is captured at a lower frame rate than normal, and then played back at a standard frame rate. The result is that motion that usually takes a long time, like a flower blooming, appears to happen in real-time.

"Traditionally, time lapse videos depend on holding your phone or camera still while you film," according to a post on the Instagram blog. "Hyperlapse from Instagram features built-in stabilization technology that lets you create moving, handheld time lapses that result in a cinematic look, quality and feel — a feat that has previously only been possible with expensive equipment."

Thanks to the new image-stabilization technology, shaky footage will be smoothed out for a more cinematic look.
You won't need an account to create a hyperlapse video. You open straight to the camera, and simply tap the screen once to begin recording then tap again to stop. After filming your footage, you can choose a playback speed from 1x (normal speed) to 12x, then tap the green check mark to save it to your camera roll. From there, you can share your video on Instagram or Facebook for all your friends and followers to see.

"From documenting your whole commute in seconds or the preparation of your dinner from start to finish to capturing an entire sunset as it unfolds, we're thrilled about the creative possibilities Hyperlapse unlocks," Instagram wrote. "We can't wait to see what you'll create."
At this point, the app is only available for iOS devices. Head to the App Store to download it for free.
